History in Brief
1979 Company established with the introduction of Low Isles cruises
1983 Commenced Australia’s first true Outer Barrier Reef cruise.
Installation of the first reef platform at Agincourt Reef [Ag2D site]
1986 Reef Biosearch environmental division established
1988 Introduction of wavepiercing catamaran – now synonymous with Quicksilver
1994 Installation of sophisticated activity platform at Agincourt Reef [Ag3 site]
1992 Sailing catamaran, Wavedancer commences Low Isles cruises
2005 Majority acquisition of Pro Dive Cairns. Acquisition of Great Adventures. Acquisition of Green Island Resort. Launch of Silver Series dive and snorkel specialty brand.

A pioneering reef tourism operator for nearly 3 decades, Quicksilver commenced operations in 1979 with the first commercial cruise to picturesque Low Isles off the coast of Port Douglas. Today the Quicksilver Group has grown to become North Queensland’s leading Great Barrier Reef cruise operator and major private employer.

With Cairns and Port Douglas-based operations, the Quicksilver Group comprises Quicksilver’s landmark reef cruises to Agincourt Reef, Wavedancer cruises to Low Isles, Great Adventures’ reef and Green Island cruises, Silver Series’ adventure dive and snorkelling, Pro Dive Cairns liveaboard trips and dive courses, and, the five star Green Island Resort.

The philosophy of in-house services encompasses the company’s committed approach to quality and includes our Reef Biosearch environmental division, diving, catering and fleet maintenance divisions.

Quicksilver’s dedication to environmental management and sustainable marine tourism is evident in the Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation achieved by our products and 15 year operational permits granted by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. Significantly, the company has over 50 Great Barrier Reef dive sites, many of which are exclusive.
